摘要：A system and a method connect mobile devices via channels which connect afirst terminal and a second terminal. A bearer establishment of the connection isidentified by the first terminal and/or the second terminal. The first terminal accesses
information to identify the second terminal and/or to select a first codec for data totransmit the data in the first codec between the terminals. The first terminal alternativelychooses a first codec without accessing the information. The data in the first codec istransmitted from the first terminal to the second terminal without an exchange of codeccapabilities and/or codec preferences. The second terminal is capable of receiving thedata sent in the first codec. Alternatively, the second terminal may be incapable ofreceiving the data sent in the first codec. The first terminal uses capability and/orpreference information received from the second terminal to detect cases whether thesecond terminal is incapable of receiving the data in the first codec. The first terminalidentifies a second codec for the data which is acceptable by the second terminal forreceiving the data. The first terminal changes from transmitting the data in the first codecto transmitting the data in the second codec. The second terminal receives and/oraccepts the data sent in the second codec. The capability information and/or thepreference information of the second terminal is stored in the first terminal and/or in adatabase accessible by the first terminal.
