摘要：A dampened chain drive for an IC engine has a circular plastic damping elementloosely clamped between the two sections of the chain drive, and between the driven anddriving wheels for the chain. The damping element presses the return section of chainoutwards while the load section remains straight when under load. The damping elementis compressed into an elliptical shape and rolls inside the chain drive. The dampingelement also dampens any lateral movements of the chain such as are generated if thetwo chain wheels are not truly in line. The distance between the outer points of contactof the damping element with the chain is greater than the diameter of the chain wheelsand less than the unsprung diameter of the damping ring.
