摘要： An apparatus for detecting the particulate matter (46) present in a mediumdisposed in a chamber (10) comprises a photodetector (14) maintained at a stable lowtemperature by a refroidissememt device of the Peltier (42). The light diffused by theparticulate material (46) is focused by a spherical lens (34) on the inlet surface (30) of arod lens (22). The latter is provided with a step of 0.5 optical and transfers the image onits output surface (25), from where it then leads, after passing through a light guide (18)to the sensitive portion ( 16) of the photoelectric device (14). The rod lens (22) is aneconomic means of transferring the light and serves as a thermal barrier. Thus, althoughthe photoelectric device (14) is maintained at low temperature, the inlet surface (30) ofthe rod lens (22) can be maintained at the temperature of the medium in the chamber(70) and is not subject to fogging or ice. The lens (34) is mounted through a collar (28)which can be slid into a position where the lens (34) focuses the input light onto thesurface (30) of the lens (22), and is then fixed in this position by adhesive leavepolymerized at UV light.
