It is with great pleasure that I write this letter of recommendation in support of Ke Huang’s candidacy for a UIUC international student in College of Business.

For the last 3 years, I have worked with Ke Huang as her class counselor in my capacity and also teach her as her Math mentor at High School Attached to Nanjing Normal University, at the Jiangning branch. Given her academic accomplishments which includes her outstanding skills as a national Math Olympic competitor, it is clear to me that she has begun to establish a strong foundation in Maths which will ensure her a great sense of logic and analysis for her further study in Business. Ke Huang would now like to have an opportunity to gain experience in Business in the area of manipulating Maths in solving financial problems.

Since September of 2008, Ke Huang has been studying with me to develop her academic skills and methods in Maths. In my direct experience, I have found her to be knowledgeable, creative, resourceful and in possession of great skills in Physical Sciences. In addition to her academic achievements, Ke Huang also displays an outstanding organizational skills in class management and activities. Words often heard from my colleagues and her peers like “creative”, and “responsible” go to the vice president of the class to describe her qualities in organizing and implementing class activities. An extraordinary demonstration comes from the students’ dorm walls, which was designed and decorated in handpaint by her initiating guide and devoted corporation. Ke Huang’s another shining point is her strong communication skills by which she used in both making friends and efficiently solving problems. She is a people person, optimistic and thoughtful.

Given her good array of academic talents, easy-going nature and willingness to work with people, Ke Huang has the necessary basic ingredients for great accomplishment and I believe she deserve an opportunity to gain an international college student at your campus.

Dear Sir or Madam,

It is with my pleasure to support Ke Huang, one of my senior student in the High School affiliated to Nanjing formal University, at Jiangning branch, to be the candidacy of UIUC college of Business.

I have been teaching Ke Huang as her English teacher for the last 3 years. And admired by her openness, thoughtfulness and lots of hobbies, I could still remember the first time at her turn to report in my class. She began her lecture in the way,

“Did you know that Spanish actually came from the Iberian Peninsula (where Spain and Portugal is right now) and is really an advanced branch of Latin? Or did you know that the language that I am speaking now is a mixture of numerous European languages mainly composed of sub-divisions of German and Anglo Saxon? I, for one, have been interested in both the development and the learning of a language”.

I was shocked at that time that she exhibited surprising communicative skills in the language of English, and gradually to know that from a small age, the differing forms of language have always fascinated her to almost no end. She reads whatever she could have at hand, including newspapers and magazines in English version, and watching Hollywood movies. Her English Language sense therefore is enhanced significantly together with some intensive classroom trainings. Ke Huang once said, that to her “speaking a different language is like a candy, I can chew on for both night and day and never tire of its everlasting flavors”. To which I agree with full heart that she holds great patience and integrity in foreign language learning. This is because that learning a foreign language with not such the languages speaking and sometimes

listening environment could be mostly taking up to years for one to truly master the language. Years of laborious work and endless practicing could yield great results. Well, this is what Ke Huang expresses in my class; a senior girl student with patience and integrity who just loves learning a language.

And I, fortunately being her English teacher, support her, Ke Huang, to have the opportunity of becoming a college student at your university.

She has corresponded with me for finance issues by emails as a undergraduate student at Yangzhou University for the last two years. I have found her to be one of the most capable students I have worked with.

I happened to get to know Miss Xu in 2008, when I held a lecture on introducing Finance Engineering to students school wide, Miss Jie Xu was at that time in completion of an exam taking place in Nanjing University. She accidently stepped into the lecture, and evoked my attention by strong interests in listening. At the end of the lecture, she approached to me, asking questions and exchanging her corresponding address, and since then started our long time email correspondence. Whenever she had questions in studies of finance issues, she would talk in email and sought for my viewpoints. Moved by her diligence and eagerness to learn, I managed to reply to my capacity. From her emails, I observed that her understanding toward this specific finance area has made progress by mere self study and research. As she is strong in mathematics and computer programming, her applying both quantitative and engineering methods into finance has been favorable obtaining a higher level to success.

Miss Xu borrowed recently from her University library some of my publications on behavioral finance, and tried to analyze some seemingly illogic cases in spending or investing money she’d learned from classroom. To my delight, her interests in finance broaden from theoretical applications to reality in addition to explaining people’s subtle psychological movements in dealing with monetary issues.

In her correspondence, Miss Xu would sometimes mention her wish to obtain a position after graduation in the securities, banking, financial management and consulting industries, and in order to fulfill her future career in the finance areas, she now would like to pursue her further education at your university.

For four years I have been working with Miss Jie Xu as the professor at lecturing her courses of Micro-economy and Macro-economy and her mentor supervising her graduation thesis. Given to her academic achievements, her outstanding skills in communication, versatile and active contributions in social service at and out of

school, it is clear to me that she had begun establishing strong career foundation as a professional in finance area.

I taught Miss Xu the courses of Micro-economy and Macro-economy, aiming differentiating at scare resources allocated to individual, and performance and behavior of the entire economy. At class Miss Xu impressed me greatly in her strong academic background and extraordinary academic performance. Miss Xu is quick in receiving new knowledge input, and enjoys drawing inferences about other cases from one instance. For the part in the course of analyzing economic figures in pictures, she is always the one who considers all sides of the whole thing thoroughly and profoundly, combining new knowledge points in logic extension to the already established knowledge system.

I have observed her eagerness to contribute what she’s possessed at school back to society: In her sophomore summer vacation, she volunteered at Beijing 2008 Olympic Games, and later worked at her internship at Eastern Airlines of China, in her junior winter vacation, she worked at a local orphanage in a small town of Guizhou province. Plenty experience from the intern spot, an out-going personality and intense understanding in her major promise her being more than equal to tasks. And one of her extraordinary qualities worth mentioning is that she can adjust to changing circumstances, and bear effective application to reality. Last summer, she gained her another internship at Xingguang Print Company, working as the Department of Accounting clerk, she was capable of dealing with daily reimbursement audit and accounting treatment.
