The discharge outlet of a mixer is formed by walls 4,each of which is provided with a layer 9 of lubricating material, and at least one of whichhas a tapered entry portion and another of which is pivotable so as to vary the size of theoutlet. The lubricating material may be a fluorinated ethylene-propylene resin, anodisedaluminium, nylon, a ceramic, or a polycarbonate, acetal, or phenolic polymericcomposition. The mixer may be a Banburytype mixer.
