I Analysis of teaching materials:
It is the first period of Unit 5 and the main contents are the expressions about describing weather. It mainly train students’ listening and speaking skills. By studying this lesson, we’ll enable the students grasp how to express weather.
II Teaching aims and demands:
Knowledge Aims:
1. To be familiar with some expressions about describing weather. 2. To enable the students to master how to describe weather in English.
Ability Aims:
Listening:Ss can understand weather reports and descriptions of
different weather.
Speaking:Ss can describe weather in proper ways.
Learning Strategy: To have basic communication by using limited
English knowledge.
Culture awareness: To master the different habits of describing
weather between Chinese and people in western countries.
Emotional attitude: To understand how to describe weather when
people meet for the first time.
III Teaching Key and Difficult Points:
1. To learn some expressions for describing weather; 2. To finish the listening exercises.

Task One: Show Ss a brief weather report, and let them grasp some words about weather. Activity 1: Think and choose

each picture by using one or two adjectives.

Step1The teacher may make a dialogue about talking about the weather in a place with a student.

The teacher summarizes the key information they have learnt in this period.
