On the Application of Communicative Language Teaching
to Spoken English in Middle Schools 论交际教学法在中学口语中的应用
Abstract: In language teaching, Communicative Language Teaching (CLT) is regarded as an irrevocable teaching approach. It originated in the late 1960s. Since then, CLT has been applied in all levels of foreign language teaching and learning. After its first introduction into China at the end of the 1970s,communicative language teaching has widened the horizon of English teaching and learning in China when traditional teaching methods were considered inappropriate for achieving middle school students’ communicative competence. As an advanced teaching method, CLT teaching is more valuable in China which does not take English as a native language. This thesis aims to study the theoretical foundation of communicative language teaching, and then analyses the current situation in English teaching and learning in Chinese middle school. Furthermore, it explores the application of teaching and learning to spoken English in the middle school, which has been an effective way of enhancing students’ spoken English after research.

【摘要】
在语言教学中,交际教学法的地位不可替代。其起源于上个世纪60年代末,此后被应用于外语教学的各个方面。20世纪70年代末传入中国。在中国国内传统教学方式不适宜促进发展学生交际能力的社会背景下,交际教学法拓宽了国内学者对外语教学的看法。作为一种先进的教学法,交际教学法对于中国这个不是以英语作为本国语的国家来说显得更有价值。本论文旨在研究交际教学法的理论基础,分析国内中学英语教学的现状及应用,进而表明,将交际教学法应用于口语教学是行之有效的。
