36-year-old Joey Chestnut won the Hot Dog Eating Contest with a world record of eating 75 hot dogs in 10 minutes in Brooklyn, in New York City, on July 4, 2020.

The Hot Dog Eating Contest started by Major League Eating (MLE) has been on for years. There were about 35 million viewers online in the US and Canada this year.

For coronavirus safety, the 5 eaters stood at a nine-meter-long table, compared to the typically 15. All the eaters wore face masks right up to their first bite. At last, Chestnut beat others with great difficulties.

Many people find themselves staying at home, bored and lonely. Henry Thoreau is an example in America. As he wrote: I never found anything more helpful than loneliness. It allows you to be a Columbus to a whole new world inside,” One advantage of staying alone is that you’ll have enough quiet and free time. Secondly, being alone also forces us to pay more attention to the details of life and things around that we wouldn’t normally see, which helps us think more deeply. A documentary film named Pot of Fire was recently released (发布). Showing different styles and tastes of hotpot from all over the country, it allows internet users to “enjoy” hotpot together online. Only hotpot can show how much Chinese people like to get together to enjoy happiness. Different ingredients cater to (适应) different tastes. When people sit around a table to eat, chat and drink, they feel relaxed. As a popular saying goes, “There’s nothing to worry about after having hotpot. If you are still worried, then go for it twice.” So if you feel lonely, why not cook some hotpot to fill both your stomach and your heart? As the biggest part, together with Scotland and Wales, they make up the island of Great Britain. When you include Northern Ireland we call it the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. Over 50 million people live there. That’s around 80 percent of the UK’s total population. More than 250 languages are spoken in London. Outside the big cities, it is a very green country and has many beautiful areas in the countryside. People there love music. They listen to all types of music, especially pop and rock. Many international groups and singers there like the Beatles and Adele are very popular around the world. People there love sports, too. Football is one of their favorites.
