I just wonder who asked this question. If this question was from a 5-year-old boy, I’ll tell him without any hesitation – “yes,

definitely.” He’s just a boy. I don’t wanna let him think too much. If you are always unsure about everything, you can’t be happy. What we always believe in is the origin of our sense of security. I wish all the children to be innocent in their childhood. They don’t have to know it so early that, in this world, things are not all so simple as 1+1=2. However, we are grown-ups. We experienced more. We have a better view to look at this world and ourselves. Have you ever experienced that sometimes what we think is obviously true turns out to be incredibly false. Have you ever experienced that sometimes what we think is fairly simple turns out to be quite difficult. If you, as a grown-up, have experienced so many unexpected things, can you be as sure as an innocent 5-year-old boy to answer “yes, of course” when somebody is asking you “does one plus one ALWAYS equal two?”

I assure you that you will think it over. Because you have been taught many lessons that things do not always go on the way you think they would. Then, how about we answer this question now? Does one plus one ALWAYS equal two?

Indeed, it is the most basic principle in mathematics. Then how about put it into applied problems?

1 apple plus 1 apple equals 2 apples. This is definitely true. But how about 1 sheep plus 1 wolf? It equals two what? What could be the result? I think the result might be 1 wolf with 1 chewed sheep in its stomach. You may say that 1 wolf and 1 sheep are different things, they can’t use addition.

OK, let’s see the addition of the same things. What about 1 drop of water plus 1 drop of water? It can be two drops of water, or it can be one bigger drop of water. Can you always be sure about that?

Now you see, things are not always so simple, huh?

The world is full of uncertainty. And that is the reason of why we are always expecting what will happen next. You never know.

So this is everybody’s life. You can make it simple. And you can also make it complicated. Living a simple life may be boring, but satisfying. Living a complicated life may be exhausting, but interesting. What do you prefer? It’s your choice.

Just like the perfect love stories and teamwork stories before me.I also believe that 1+1can get more meanings.However ,I still have my own mind,I think one plus one can be a harmonious world.

First please let me tell you a story. Once upon a time ,there was a Mr.One .He was pride selfish and lonely.One day ,another Mr One who shared the same character came to him,They talked ,they played ,they laught and they cried.Day by day,two person like them even became friends.Surprisely,we fine that the two ones changed.Affable friendly and happy took the place of pride selfish and lonely.They realised that too.They wanted to be happy,They want to melt the cold ice between themselves and other ones.Our Mr Ones succeded.More and more ones joined them,and ten years later,the world of ones became a garden of Eden. I want to say ,we are all strangers to each other.An invisible wall separates us(这里我在提板上画了一个1I1的符号，11表示的是2个 人，中间表示一堵墙）Here,1+1 is not only a math problem or someting about our physical universe.It's also a bond,a bond connect you and me .It's also a will,a will of conmunication.It's also a virtue，a virtue teaches us how to accept others.It's also a spirit ,a spirit of understanding,a spirit of sincerity，a spirit of cordiality.A spirit is so powerful that can break any wall between us！（在这里，我将1I1中间用力的划了一横，以示break,成了1+1）

As the work continues there is an amazing sense of community spirit among the Indonesian people and the international aid workers. Local volunteers from around the country have mobilized their resources to assist their neighbors. There are hundreds of thousands of people without homes and many of them have been adopted by people in the villages who were not affected. I've heard reports that some households have opened their houses and hearts to as many as 24 people. Barriers that once separated people now are no longer separating, but uniting. Food distribution has been going amazingly well and all people from what I can ascertain receive rations. In addition, soap, clothing, toiletries and other essentials are being distributed to the victims. Mental health professionals have been mobilized and they are beginning to work with the people suffering from post traumatic stress problems. Some camps are organizing make-shift schools to continue educating the children and the overall situation improves day by day.

The international humanitarian community is phenomenal as well. Aid organizations from around the world have come and engage rigorously in all activities needed. Currently on the ground, there are dozens of different nationalities who have come to

offer support. At today's meeting, teams from Russia, Albania, Sweden, Norway, Holland, Belgium, England, the USA, Spain, the Philippines, Korea, Singapore, Ireland, Hungary, and Germany were present and that only represents a portion of the people who are here. Field hospitals have been established with x-ray and laboratory capacities, ICU and surgical departments. Infectious disease surveillance is aggressively underway and systems are in place to handle any potential epidemics. One organization has assumed responsibility for malarial protection and they are actively spraying all houses in the area against mosquitoes. Toilets are being built, hygiene teams are in place to manage the camps, reconstruction of schools and clinics are underway and with the will of the world magic continues.

I've been in other world tragedies, but for some reason this one has captured the attention and affection of the entire world community. The donations that people have made enables massive efforts to meet the needs of people affected around the world. Everyone's support makes this all possible and it is something phenomenal to witness. I have gone from camp to camp and talked directly with the people living in the

\"tented villages.\" They are strong willed and resilient people and wish to begin their lives

again. Their needs are enormous, but with the coordination of all the aid agencies in place, new lives can be made stronger and the sadness we all feel together as a world community can motivate us and strengthen our resolve. This catastrophe has given

mankind a chance to work together and help one another as one people. This tragedy has the capacity to mark a new beginning of a new world order of love and cooperation among all of us.

We all learned hundreds of times that one plus one equals two when we were in primary school. It is a truth that won’t change. But as time passing by,I learned that one plus one not always equals two in our daily life. ．

It’s no doubt that an apple add on an apple is two apples. But strength plus strength doesn’t only equal two strenth. Because lots of times the superposition of strength can become unimagined intelligence which can not be only measured by numbers. ．

As numbers are just abstract conception in math,we should not only deal with the affairs easily in life by operations but intelligence and practise.If you could use one plus one right,it will be any number u could ever imagine,however,if you couldn’t,it will bring the fiasco to you also.

It comes to light that one plus one equals two,but I am going to say that one plus one equals more than two! Why is it?Because the “one” in here means team spirit. If everyone in a group,a team or a department is full of team spirit,then,they are concordant. And I believe they could achieve their goals much easier.doesn’t it mean one plus one equal more than two?

what is team spirit?It means every sigle person to try his best to achieve the same goal.They bear the responsibility,make concerted effort,and put their strenth together,all of these become mighty power to make them a great team.I think everybody here knows tug-of-war which could show the team spirit most,every member makes effort on the same goal,cooperate with teammates and support each other to win the game.

There is no perfect person in the world but perfect team!Only each one shows the good points to make up the shortcomings so that they could win these challenges.

One tree does not make a forest,one person alone can not save the situation.If you want to take advantage of one plus one most,show your team spirit to achieve it.The result can be more than “two”!

One plus one equals two...it seems like just a simple math problem at first glance, but it can also mean so much more.

If one is the loneliest number, then two is surely the happiest. Two means companionship and the security of knowing that there is someone else to share your joys and soothe your sorrows. It reminds us that we are not meant to stand alone in this world. We should connect with others and forge bonds. After all, society is built on the foundation of each person reaching out to his neighbor.

Thus, the equation is formed: one plus one equals two.
