A Student of African Wildlife 说课稿 (人教版)

Good morning, dear judges. It’s my great pleasure to be here to share my lesson

with you. The lesson I choose is Senior English Book 4 Unit 1, A Student of African Wildlife. I prepare to introduce this lesson with five parts, the analysis of the teaching material, the teaching methods, the studying methods, the teaching procedure, and the blackboard design.

Part I Analysis of the Teaching Material: 说教材 First, let’ s begin with first part the teaching material. This unit is about great women and their achievements. By studying this unit, we’ll enable the students to know some great women and what makes them successful.

According to the new standard curriculum and the syllabus (新课程标准和教学大纲), I think the teaching aims are as follows:

1. Knowledge objectives: 知识目标

(1) The students can hear, read, and use the main sentence patterns; (2) The students can understand the content of the passage. 2. Ability objectives: 能力目标

(1) To develop the students’ abilities of listening, speaking, reading and writing., especially speaking and writing ability;

(2) To train the students’ ability of working in groups; 3. Emotional objectives: 情感目标

By reading the passage A Student of African Wildlife students can learn from Jane Goodall in at least two aspects: one is the human way to study animals. The other is that it was Jane’s universal love and mercy that made her successful.

Key points and teaching difficulties. 教学重难点

The key point is to enable the students to use new words and phrases in proper situation. The students also find it difficult to describe their experiences with logical and well organized languages.

Part 2 Teaching Methods: 说教法

According to the analysis of the teaching material and the students’ learning background, I will adopt the following teaching methods. They are the Communicative Approach(交际教学法), the situational teaching method (情景教学法) and the Task-based teaching method (任务教学法).

Part 3 Studying Methods: 教学方法

Students of this stage are quick in thought and they are eager to show what they know. But they are lack of certain knowledge, and the courage to express their ideas. In this lesson, I will teach my students to master the following strategies:

(1) Basic learning strategy; (2) Practice strategy; (3) Communication strategy Part 4 Teaching Procedure 说教学过程

I designed five steps to deal with this reading passage.

1

Step 1 Lead-in 导入

I think the most useful method to lead the students to learn is to arouse their interest. In the beginning I will let the students discuss one question: after a glance of the title and the pictures of this passage, what do they think the passage is about?

Step 2 Reading 阅读

In this step students are going to read the passage as quickly as they can to find out the main idea of the text and answer the following questions:

Who is the student?

What animals were observed?

Step 3 Learning the words, phrases and languages重点词句学习

After reading, I will teach the students the passage in details. In the passage there will be some vocabulary and structures that are difficult to guess thus making comprehension of this passage difficult for the students. So I will write the new words on the blackboard and let the students to fill in some blanks of sentences to help them grasp the precise meaning of the words.

Step 4 Post-reading Practice 读后巩固

As we all know, to learn is to use. So after the reading, students will have some practice.

The students are divided into several groups and there are four in each group with different roles. Student A will act as an ordinary person who finds it difficult to succeed. Student B will act as a great woman who has the good characters. Student C will act as an interviewer who asks Student B what makes her successful. Student D will make a summary.

There is no doubt that this activity will encourage the students to open their mouth. Step 5 Homework 课后作业 There are two tasks.

1. Do the remaining exercises in the workbook.

2. Write a short passage to describe a woman they admire most

I think homework is important so that the students could use English as much as possible both in class and after class.

Part 5 blackboard Design 板书设计

I will divide the blackboard into two parts .The left part will be used to write the important words, phrases and sentence patterns. It will be reserved for the whole class. On the right part I’ll write the topic sentence and main ideas of each paragraph on the blackboard. This will help the students have a good command of the text and also learn how the passage is developed.

2

Words and Expressions: Main idea of each paragraph: deliver, intend, research, mean, Para 1 How our group studied chimps in argue, observe, behave… the forest. come across; crowd into; refer to; Para 2 What Jane discovered about chimps. carry on; by chance; look down Para 3 What Jane have done to protect upon/on… chimps. Sentence Patterns: Para 4 Jane’s achievements. It’s very considerate of sb. to do… It hit sb. that…

That’s all for my lesson. Thank you for your listening.
