第三单元

General goals of Unit 3

In this unit , Li Ming experiences winter in Canada . He and your students learn vocabulary to describe winter and the other seasons . This Unit also covers outdoor winter recreation and clothing and a variety of common English words and phrases .

Ⅰ、Students can read 、write 、say and aurally understand the following vocabulary :

第一课时 Lesson 17 Seasons

Step 1 : Class opening and Review

1) Greeting

2) Review

① Review clothing the students have already mastered with “ spell it ”

jeans shirt skirt blouse hat pants sweater shoes socks jacket glasses

② Play a game to review months of the year .

Step 2 Presentation and practice

1、Teach “ winter , spring , summer , fall ”

1) Review the months of the year in order .

Put four pictures to represent the seasons at the appropriate points about the line of cards .

2) For example , show a snowflake and a thermometer with a cold reading for “ winter ” and place it above the cards for December and January .

3) When I have a picture for each season posted above the months , walk from “ winter ” to “ fall ” as I say :

① This is winter . Winter is cold ! What’s the weather ? It’s .What’s the temperature ? It’s degrees .

② Now it’s spring . Spring is warm . What’s the temperature ? degrees .

③ Now it’s summer . Summer is hot . What’s the weather ? It’s ④ It’s fall . Fall is cool . Look ! It’s degrees .

4) Ask for volunteers to walk with I and say the words .

5) Introduce the seasons by themselves .

2、Learn “ Different clothes for different seasons ”

1) Ask and discuss :

① What clothes do they wear in winter ?

② What clothes do they wear in spring ?

③ What clothes do they wear in summer ?

2)Divide into the groups to practice “ four seasons ” and what do you wear in winter spring , summer and fall ?

1、Teach “ skate ski ice snow ”

1) Demonstrate “ ski and skate ” with large vocabulary cards :

C : Yes / No , I can’t skate / ski .

2) Demonstrate “ snow and ice ” with your large vocabulary cards .Then hold up the “ skate ” and “ ice ” cards together . Lead a dialogue such as :

Demonstrate the new vocabulary with real mitts and a real scarf . Put on and take off the mitts and scarf as I say phrases such as :

I want my scarf . Now I’m putting on my scarf . Oh ! I’m hot .I’m taking off my scarf .

2) Practice

Teach gives commands and the students do action :

Put on your scarf !

Take off your jacket !

Model the use of “ Why ? Because . ”

e.g. : ① I’m hungry . I want to eat . I want to eat .

2、Learn “ Winter fun ”

1) Listen to the tape as they follow in their books

2) Think over the questions :

① What are Jenny and Li Ming making ?

③ Does the snowman have eyes/ears/arms ?

④ Li Ming wants to go inside ? Why ?

3) Review the story “ Li Ming has come to Canada to stay with Jenny’s family ”Now , It’s winter . What are Li Ming and Jenny doing ?

4) Read the text . Then answer the questions ① ② ③ ④ .

Make the distinction between weather adjectives the students know ( rainy sunny windy ) and the nouns in this lesson ( rain sun wind )

2) Look at a picture
