I developed my love for drawing when I was first able to hold a pencil at the age of 4. The first time I was able to bring life to a blank white piece of paper, I was crazy about it. As I grew older and the responsibilities of life began to increase. I lost the freedom to express my creative talent on a regular basis and my art talent suffered for it. One day I suddenly realized that what I loved most had become a meaningless part of my daily life.
I decided to attend an art school and took classes at night after work. The courses were
interesting and educational but really didn’t teach me the essence (本质) of what I wanted to focus on — the figure drawing.
I decided to fast catch up with my education process and hire a private instructor. After one month of instruction I had make some progress but my pocketbook couldn’t keep up with the costs involved.
This was when I realized the Internet was a perfect place for me to find the information required to learn how to draw figures in the correct way. After a lot of research online I finally found a technique called Figure Drawing Secrets that had enabled me to achieve my goal!

When a Swedish ship that sank in 1628 was recovered from the port of Stockholm, historians and scientists were overjoyed with the chance to examine the remains of the past. The ship construction showed how ships were built and operated during the seventeenth century. In this way, artifacts, objects made by human beings, provided a picture of daily life almost 400 years ago.
Underwaterarchaeology-the study of ships, aircraft and human settlements that have sunk under large bodies of water-is really a product of the last 50 years. The rapid growth of this new area of study has occurred because of the invention of better diving equipment .Besides the
Swedish ship wreck(残骸),underwater archaeologists have made more exciting discoveries such as the 5000-year-old boats in the Mediterranean Sea.
Underwater archaeology can provide facts abut the past.In ancient ports all over the world are ships sunken in the past 6,000 years. There are also sunken settlements in seas and lakes telling of pelples way of life and their systems of trade in ancient times.Underwater archaeologists want to study these objects to add to the world's knowledge of history, but they have to fight two enemies. One enemy is treasure hunters who dive for ancient artifacts that they can sell to collectors. Once sold, these objects are lost to experts. The second enemy is dredging machines(挖掘机)often used to repair ports. These machines destroy wrecks and artifacts or bury them deeper under sand and mud.By teaching the public about the importance of underwater“museums”of the past, archaeologists are hoping to get support for laws to protect underwater treasures. 49.What purpose does Paragraph 1 serve in the passage? In a recent published book, I came across some exercises with interesting names such as

fishbone diagrams, lotus flowers and clustering. As I used these exercises in my classes, I noticed that students were interested. They said more and wrote more. They enjoyed expressing their ideas and sharing them in groups. They were no longer passively waiting for the bell , but actively taking part in the lesson. I find that creativity can act as a way to increase participation and improve fluency.
Creativity has become a popular word in recent years. Scholars in arts, psychology, business, education and science are all working to get a deeper understanding of it. Robert J. Stemberg is a creativity specialist and Yale professor of psychology. He defines creativity as “the ability to produce work that is both new (original) and appropriate (applicable to the situation) ”. This definition is useful, as we want our students to use language in a new way and to use it correctly and properly. Mot scholars say there are two types of creativity: big “C” creativity and small “c” creativity. Big “C” creativity refers to genius level thinking that results in artistic masterpieces and scientific breakthroughs. Small “c” creativity refers to everyday level thinking that can be used in any situation our emphasis is on the latter. While it goes without saying that any of our students could go on to be the next Picasso or Edison, our aim is to help students produce more ideas and use language in a new way.
53. The underlined words “waiting for the bell ” in the first paragraph probably means______. A. longing for a phone call B. hoping to have a bell C. expecting the end of the class D. waiting to speak in the class
. It can be inferred from the passage that the author thinks the exercises in the book were _____. A. popular B. useful C. scientific D. creative 55. When you use a familiar word in a new way, you are ________. A creative in the sense of big “C” creativity. B. creative in the sense of small “c” creativity.. C. not creative in the sense of big “C” creativity.. D. not creative in the sense of small “c” creativity. 56. The main purpose of the passage is to _________. A. show how useful the book is. B, explain what creativity
C. discuss how one can be creative D. tell what reaching aims at

The summer I was ten, my mother decided to bring us to the world of art. My brother and I were not very excited when we realized what my mother meant. What she meant was not that we could take drawing classes or painting classes but that we would have to spend one afternoon a week with her at the Fine Arts Museum. Before each visit to the museum, she made us read about artists and painting styles. It was almost as bad as being in school. Who wants to spend the summer thinking about artists when you could be with your friends at the swimming pool?
First we had to read about ancient Egyptians(古埃及人) and their strange way of painting faces and then go to look at them at the museum. My 12-year-old brother thought this was so funny, but I was not interested.Later we had to learn about artists in the Middle Ages who painted people wearing strange long clothing. We had to look at pictures of fat babies with wings and curly(卷曲的)hair and with no clothes on flying around the edges of paintings. I certainly couldn't see what was so great about art.

On our last visit to the museum, something happened when I saw a painting by a woman called Mary. In it, a woman was reading to a child. The colors were soft and gentle, and you could tell by the mother' s expression how happy she was just to be with the child.I couldn't stop looking at this painting ! I wanted to see every painting Mary had ever made! It was really worth looking at so many paintings to find a painter who could interest me so much. 57.The aim of the mother' s plan was to _________.
A.take them to visit the museum B.introduce them to the world of art C.ask them to read about artists D.show them different painting styles 58.What was the writer' s experience in the museum before the last visit?
A.She came to feel her mother' s love. B.She liked many paintings.
C.She hardly enjoyed herself.
D.She could understand the pictures of fat babies.
59.What made the writer go through a change that summer?
A.One of Mary's paintings. B.A strange way of painting. C.Artists in the Middle Ages. D.Her mother' s instruction. 60.From the text, we can see _________.
A.the importance of curiosity B.the effect of art
C.the value of learning D.the power of family education
第二节 第61至65题是几个人的困惑。 阅读下面专家的解答(A、B、C、D、E、F), 然后选出符合各人需要的最佳选项。 选项中有一项是多余选项。
61. The winter is coming and everyone’s waking up later than usual, except me. I go to bed at 10 every evening and sleep well, but I wake up at 7 in the moring and find it hard to fall asleep again. Why does this happen to me and what should I do?
62. I’m a sixteen-year-old girl and I have hair on my upper lip. It makes me look like a boy. Is there any way to help me get rid of it effectively? I cut my upper lip hair off but it’s annoying to have to keep doing it every morning.
63. My boyfriend smokes heavily and smoking has badly harmed his health. I really want to help him stop smoking. I’ve advised him many times but it seems that he has no idea how to start to do so. What can I do?
. My husband is a computer engineer and he’s very busy and sometimes stays up all night. He has an eating disorder. Sometimes he doesn’t eat for a whole day and the next day he will eat too much. I’m quite worried about his health and I want to help him.
65. I’m a very shy boy and my face turns red when I talk to strangers. When I speak in class, I’m always trembling. I’m afraid of strarting my high school. What can I do to become brave and make more friends?
A. It sounds like there’s no need for you to do anything. Judging from what you say, I think you’re getting enough sleep because most teens need to sleep 8 to 10 hours each night. You’re sleeping well. In fact, you’re doing one of the best things you can do to get a restful night’s sleep—going to bed at a regular time. So, you may naturally wake up at 7 am because your body has had the right amount of sleep to meet its need. Just enjoy your life.
B. It’s not an easy thing to talk with people about it. Start by telling him that you’re worried about his health very much. If he seems to want to talk about it, you may go on. Tell him that if he wants
第 7 页 共 9 页
to live a healthy life, he must lead a regular life and that having three meals a day regularly keeps everyone comfortable. Reassure him that you’re there for him and you want to help him get well. C. You don’t have to worry about it too much. I know a way to deal with the unwanted hair called electrolysis, which is performed by inserting a tiny needle into the hair follicle and using an electric current to kill the hair root. Electrolysis is a little bit expensive, painful, and even time consuming. Removing upper lip hair may take a total of 4 to 10 hours over several visits.
D. One of the best ways to get rid of your shyness is to find out what makes you nervous. Just be brave. If you want to behave actively in your class, discuss something with your classmates or answer questions. When you meet a stranger, just smile and say hello to him to start a talk. Some people find that it helps to perform in front of a mirror.
E. It’d be better if there’s someone helping your boyfriend to stop it. But I think he must want to do it himself. It may be difficult to succeed. You can let him know that you will support him. You can encourage him to have a talk with his doctor to find out a proper way.
F. Not everyone who’s depressed needs to take medicine. There are many other things that can help. You should find out what is best for you.

A young man called Low-Carbon Brother became a hit on the Internet in 2011. He suggests living a low-carbon life, which means using less enery in our daily life so that we can help reduce carbon dioxide in the air. For example, he always picks up some waste paper on the street and uses the blank side to write something. While he is watching TV, he always turns down the brightness to the minimum and turns off the light. Besides, he goes to work by bike instead of driving.
Some people think what he is doing is just a show. No one can live such a simple life with so many modern inventions around us. As far as I am concerned, I strongly support his idea and his behavior. Although what he is doing has no huge effect on global warming, he at least can enjoy a healthy life.
