Each sensing pin 10 is spring-urged towards acard support 11 and has an associated pair of contacts 12, 13, the pin 10 normally holdingthe contacts apart, but on passing through a hole in a card, allowing contact 13 to engagecontact 12 at 20. Pins 10 are lowered for sensing by a member 21 in which they arespring-loaded. The reader is formed from a stack of mouldings 11, 21, 14, contacts 12, 13being spring strips housed in slots in the respective mouldings 14.
