高级写作英语-to be a good teacher

Being a teacher has always been a lofty job since long ago. As the old saying goes, once a teacher, always a teacher. However, the quality of being a good teacher arouses more and more people’s attention with an increasing occurrence of conflict between teachers and students. This is an issue deserving deep thinking. From my own view, a good teacher should be a person of love to his/her students,a person with high moral level, a person who is proficient in one or more fields, and a person who understands students well.

The first and also the fundamental element of a good teacher is that he/she should love his/her students,not only students achieving outstanding results,but also students with poor performance.If teachers always like students with high scores and seldom care about those inexcellent,then those unexcellent students would get hurt in heart and have no motivation to work hard.Undoubtly,a good teacher should be fair to each student ,giving them the same care and encourage.

Another important character that a good teacher should possess is a high level of moral quality. Teachers not only need to teach students professional knowledge, but also are required to set a good example for students in the moral field. Students always regard their teachers as models in every aspect. If a teacher doesn’t have a good moral behavior, for example,a teacher makes academic cheating,then students would pick up the bad habits quickly which may lead to cheating in their test.

As imparting knowledge is the bounden duty of a teacher, teachers should be skilled in one or more fields. In our minds, teachers are the kind of person who

know almost everything in a specific field, and they should be exactly like that. A good teacher has a large stock of knowledge, so he/she could impart comprehensive knowledge to his/her students. A good teacher also refreshes his/her knowledge continually to ensure students get the latest knowledge.

Since teaching activity is an interacting activity, the skill of communicating with and understanding students takes up a significant place among a teacher’s basic qualities. A good teacher should be equipped with good communication skills to ensures that he/she can exchange ideas and feelings with students freely and efficiently. At the same time, a good teacher should have the ability to consider things at students’ position . It helps teachers focus on the important knowledge which students always have barrier to understand.

On the basis of the above factors, As long as lacking one of these four characters above, he/she can not be a good teacher.Take one of my high school teachers for example.She only like those students who get high scores and is significantly more concerned about them.she always puts students with good exam results seated in the front part of the classroom to make sure that they can listen and see more clearly.Beside,students with good performance usually get more chance to be asked and answer questions for the sake that the teacher believes they can make it while other students can’t.However,those with bad performance in study actually need more encourage and concern from teachers. So,as far as I am concerned, a good teacher should never discriminate against any student with poor performance.In contrast,he/she should give them more confidence and encourage them to make progress in study.

Overall, only when a teacher is fair to his/her each student ,has a high level of moral quality, be proficient in his/her specific fields and grasps the skill of understanding students, can he/she be a good teacher. Teachers should make efforts to achieve this goal to be a good teacher.
