The Secret Garden
My favourite book is The Secret Garden by F.H Burnett. A girl born in rich family in India is brought back to England by her uncle Mr Craven after the death of her parents. In a large estate, there is an abandoned garden. Mary receives the key of the secret garden by accident,and she makes friende with Marsha’s brother Dickon,they discoverd the secret of the garden.Then her uncle’s son Colin also join them.In that beautiful garden,Mary and Colin get rid of all the bad habits ,they grow into a healthy girl and strong man.Finally,Colin gets the love from his father again.
My favourite scence in the book is when Dickon brings them newborn lamb to Colin.The pleased is writen down on everyone’s face.The animal makes children feel warm and happy.Colin feeds the lamb and he is moved by the natural’s life.
Mary , Colin and Dickon are the hero of the story,but there are other important characters.The robin is sand for the beauty and peace of nature.Marsha is a kind-heart and warm-heart gril,always help with people.
The themes of the story are to show the power of love and magic of
nature .It’s tells us: to depend on the power of love and nature, human can get rid of the sad and beings more optimistic.
Why do I think The Secret Garden is a great book ? Burnett write the story at the age of 62,1911.But it’s still loved and read by teenagers all over the world
today. She is one influncing the whole of the 20th century British writer,she write it in the dialect of Yorkshire,so it’s very easy to understand.Today teenagers are still influnced by her thoughts.Go on ,and read it.You’ll enjoy it!
