My feelings of reading Vanity Fair
During this summer holiday, I read Vanity Fair. Vanity Fair is an English novel by William Makepeace Thackeray which follows the lives of Becky Sharp and Emmy Sedley amid their friends and families during and after the Napoleonic Wars. The story is framed by its preface and Vanity Fair coda as a puppet show taking place at a fair. For me, let me think what we live for and the meanings of our lives.
First of all, Vanity Fairis a glitzy world where dust is everywhere. It has blinded people's eyes and settled on the waves of the soul and never scattered. Therefore, people always love to find a
beautiful, gorgeous position for themselves in the Vanity Fair to show off their own, then they will not return to enter the flashy world. People go all the way to the so-called upper class society with all their strength, and throw the truth and fraternity into the clouds. Money and rights are their only pursuits. However, no matter how much money or power you have, there will always be a limit, and people's greed will never be filled. No one can get out of the web woven by this name and profit.
Second, many people like Becky have the typical aspirations to enter the upper class.Originally, she is also a clever, beautiful girl, fame and fortune seduced her. The dust of the fame fair wrapped her tightly, and she became hypocritical and
greedy. Becky used her friendship, love and marriage to get into the upper classes. She was in a real and false state, bewildering the poor, but also tarnishing herself. What a pity! She and people like her are all the potential sufferers. Third, When fame and wealth has a lot loopholes, we know that the so-called fame and wealth is just an instant fireworks. In its most gorgeous time, there are too many hypocrisies, people are so devoted to fame and wealth that they do not know the real world. Fame and wealth, of course, can be sought, but that is not the whole of life. If people excessively pursue fame and wealth, fame and wealth will become the biggest temptation of the heart, people become greedy, hypocritical and lost themselves, lost the pure hearts.
All in all, what is left in life except for fame and wealth? Maybe, during all these things, you will find that you need not only compliments and flattery, but also a kind of frankness and sincerity. As long as you are good at discovering, there are many more important things in life than fame and wealth. And you will find you do not live for fame and wealth, but to recognize kindness, tolerance, humility, friendliness, peace and tranquility in the mood of birth. After we know that, we can really know what we live for and the real meanings of our lives, then we will try our best to appreciate our life .
