摘要：Prof. Yu Weichao, a famous archaeologist and the former Director of theMuseum of Chinese History, passed away on December 5, 2003, at the age of 70,from an incurable disease. As a master of great learning and integrity of our time,Prof. Yu not only cultivated for our country a great amount of talent specializedpersonnel in archaeology, but also carried out researches as the main pioneer ofQin-Han archaeology. In the archaeology of the Neolithic Age and studies of theChu culture, he also obtained authoritative research accomplishments. Prof. Yufought all his life for the cause of Chinese archaeology and museology. Hisunfortunate passing away is a great loss for the cause of archaeology.
